I was born in 1978 in Washington D.C., USA. I spend my childhood alternately in the greater D.C. metropolitan area and various locations abroad—specifically La Paz, Buenos Aires, and Pretoria. I attended Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology and Carnegie Mellon University, graduating in 2001 with B.S. in cognitive science (minor mathematics) and a B.S. in computer science. In 1999 I studied abroad for a year at the National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei, Taiwan. I now live in Boston, MA, and work as a researcher in machine learning and statistical natural language processing.
