2004 Charity Competition Results

I’m pleased to announce the results of William’s 2004 Charity Competition for Slowing the Inexorable Tide of Evil in America. Winners receive $500 of my own personal money, split in proportion to the amount of evil they’ve slowed recently. This year’s winners are:

  1. The EFF ($250), for a continuous stream of legal action in defense of civil liberties. EFF has fought and is fighting major battles against copyright profiteering at the expense of the well-being of our society as a whole, bizarre parallel-universe Ninth Circuit decisions that would destroy the Internet, the frantic flailings of a dying conglomerate trying to litigate themselves back to life, and much more, often in conjunction with:
  2. EPIC ($250), for a continuous stream of legal action in defense of civil liberties. EPIC has fought and is fighting major battles against misguided, think-of-the-children censorship, ham-fisted and deleterious copyright enforcement, fourth-amendment erosion and the shadowy political machinations behind it, embarrassing email privacy decisions made by technology-challenged First Circuit judges, and much more.

Congratulations! Your check is in the mail.
